Growing up, I always heard these words: “God has a plan for your life, Tommy. I know it doesn’t seem like it now, but one day you’ll know what God’s purpose is.” I was always curious about that, especially since I had failed many times (which is a tale for another time). “Could God really use me? Did I really have a purpose?”
As I got older, God allowed some pivotal moments in my life that helped me realize I did have a purpose. Through that realization, I became passionate about it. I’d like to share those moments with you now.
I remember one night, while I wrestled with the above thoughts of my worth and purpose, God drawing my attention upward. I live in the country, and that particular night, the stars and moon were so bright. Now, I had seen them before, but on that night it was different.
It was as if God whispered in my ear (which He often does), and what He said clicked! “I created these things that you see, and they are spectacular, but I only spoke them into existence. I formed you with my own hands and breathed my life into you.”
I was in awe. God created all of these wonderful things we see, yet we hold God’s fingerprints all over us. I want to encourage you. You have a purpose!
God revealed this to me many years later. I have since relayed this message to every young person that God has brought into my path. Jeremiah 1:4-5 speaks to us even today.
God formed us and knew us, but He didn’t just leave it there; He has ordained us to be witnesses of His love, mercy, and power in the lives that we have been given to impact.
A preacher recently came to the church I pastor and shared this with us. While simplistic, it is extremely profound. Growing up, the craze was trying to find the will of God. Allow me to let you in on a secret: It’s within the Bible. That is, in essence, the will of God. What we are often looking for is this: “What is my purpose?”
God is looking for you and I to be as Isaiah and say, “Here am I, send me.” God just requires us to be willing and obedient to that nudge, and when we are, He enables us. After all, as the old saying goes, “God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.”
These moments, along with many others, have caused me to become passionate about God’s gift of life and the wonderful opportunity and responsibility to share that with others. The more that I study about Jesus in the Bible, the more passionate I become about my purpose.

Does God really have a plan for me? That question followed me for years, especially through my failures. But through a few powerful moments, God made it clear: not only do we have a purpose, but He formed us with intention, knew us before we were born, and speaks His will through His Word.
When the world tries to label you, remember, your true identity is found in the One who created you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, known by God before you ever took your first breath (Psalm 139:14, Jeremiah 1:5). Don’t let the noise of others define you. Let the truth of God’s Word remind you who you really are: chosen, loved, and called for a purpose. Root your identity in Christ and you’ll never have to question your worth again.

How do you heal a person? By transforming and renewing their soul-ish thinking concepts. Your true identity as an imager of God is that of a living soul, created to behold and reflect God’s divine life power through your body as God’s temple.
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ stands as the ultimate act of redemption, symbolizing God’s profound love and grace towards humankind. Understanding the depth and symbolism behind this sacrifice and learning the ways in which Christ teaches us to die to our flesh is an integral part of living the crucified life.
